Mechanical Engineering and B.E. Electrical Engineering departments. The session was conducted by Mr. Girish Kulkarni , who provided students with practical guidance on effectively utilizing the Elsevier ScienceDirect platform for academic learning and research. The Learning and Information Resource Centre (LIRC), St. Francis Institute of Technology, successfully conducted an orientation programme on Elsevier ScienceDirect for students from multiple engineering departments under the able guidance of Ms. Preethi Colaco, Asst. Prof. Department of Basic Science and Humanities. A total of 184 students participated: Mechanical Engineering – 73 Electrical Engineering – 25 ECS – 36 ExTC – 50 The session introduced students to: Accessing international engineering journals Effective literature searching Advanced filtering techniques Downloading scholarly articles Supporting field projects and academic assignments The programme aimed to build strong research foundations and promote the effective use of digital library resources across engineering disciplines.

The Learning and Information Resource Centre (LIRC), SFIT, conducted an orientation programme on Elsevier ScienceDirect for 51 B.E. OEC-11 (CCDM) students. The session was organized with the support of Dr. Hariprasad C. , enabling students to become familiar with one of the world's leading scientific research databases. To strengthen research skills among undergraduate students, the Learning and Information Resource Centre (LIRC) conducted an orientation programme on Elsevier ScienceDirect for 38 Second-Year Mechanical Engineering students undertaking their Field Project. AUTHOR WORKSHOP WITH PUBLISHER KEITH LAMBERT To better understand the publishing process for scientific journals, SFIT LIRC had hosted an  Author Workshop with the renowned publisher - Keith Lambert on September 11, 2013 between 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. Students of M.E. Part 1 and Part 2 and senior faculty members attended the workshop, making the total count of participants to 56. Keith Lambert is an Elsevier Publisher for Mechanical Engineering Journals.
