Hands-on Training on Elsevier ScienceDirect Conducted for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Students
The session was conducted by Mr. Girish Kulkarni, who provided students with practical guidance on effectively utilizing the Elsevier ScienceDirect platform for academic learning and research.
During the training, students learned how to:
- Access peer-reviewed journals and scholarly articles.
- Perform effective keyword and advanced searches.
- Apply filters to refine search results.
- Read and download full-text research papers.
- Explore journal information and article recommendations.
- Save searches and create alerts for newly published research.
- Export citations for use in research projects and reports.
- Understand the importance of peer-reviewed literature and reliable scholarly sources.
The interactive hands-on approach enabled students to search for research papers relevant to their disciplines and gain confidence in navigating one of the world's leading scientific literature databases. Students actively participated in the practical exercises and clarified their queries throughout the session.

By equipping students with the ability to discover, evaluate, and utilize credible scholarly information, the library continues to support academic excellence and foster a strong research culture at SFIT.
