The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) invites applications from eligible women researchers under the Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-orientation (BioCARe) Programme for Women Researchers for the year 2026–27.

Objective

The programme aims to enhance the participation of women researchers and support their career development in Biotechnology and allied areas.

Eligibility

  • Indian women nationals, up to 55 years of age, residing in India and unemployed as on the closing date.

  • Project duration: up to 3 years.

  • Category I: Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/allied/interdisciplinary areas, MD, MDS or M.V.Sc.

  • Category II: M.Tech. in Biotechnology/allied areas, M.Pharma or equivalent degree.

  • Candidates registered/enrolled for higher studies/Ph.D. or receiving any fellowship are not eligible.

  • The applicant must be unemployed/not in a regular position and applying for her first extramural research grant as Principal Investigator.

Nature of Support

The selected fellows will receive a consolidated research grant, including fellowship, recurring and non-recurring expenses required for the proposed research project.
