ICSSR Senior Fellowship 2026–2027: Applications Now Open

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has announced its Second Call for Applications for the Senior Fellowship Scheme for the Financial Year 2026–2027. The fellowship aims to support experienced Indian scholars undertaking significant research in social sciences and allied disciplines, with a focus on generating evidence-based insights that contribute to national development.

Important Dates

  • Online application begins: 21 October 2026

  • Last date for submission: 20 November 2026, 6:00 PM

Who Can Apply?

Interested scholars should review the official eligibility criteria and detailed fellowship guidelines before applying. The general eligibility requirements include Indian citizenship, an age between 45 and 70 years as of the application deadline, a Ph.D. degree, and a strong record of research publications.

Application Guidelines

  • Applications must be submitted online through the official ICSSR website.

  • The research proposal must be prepared using the format provided with the application form. A separate proposal should not be attached.

  • Applications may be submitted in English or Hindi. For Hindi applications, Arial or Mangal Unicode font should be used for Devanagari script.

  • Applicants should apply well before the deadline and ensure that they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions.

  • The affiliating institution will forward only applications that satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements.
