dMAT Exam: Quick Guide for Indian Students

What is dMAT?

Digital Master Test assessing academic aptitude, reasoning, and subject knowledge.

Who needs it?

Eligible Indian graduates from Engineering, Commerce/Accounting/Finance/Economics, and Business/Management backgrounds.

Applicable intake

Students planning to start a Master’s programme in Germany from Summer Semester 2027 onwards.

APS requirement

For eligible applicants, dMAT is an additional requirement in the APS documentation and verification process.

Core Module

Tests general academic aptitude, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and cognitive skills.

Subject Modules

Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Data Science.

General Academic Module

Relevant to eligible Indian applicants as part of the APS process.

Test duration

Approximately 3.5 hours, including a break.

Test format

Digital test conducted at designated test centres.

Test centres in India

Available in cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Bhopal, and Mananthavady.

Standardized score of 0–200, along with a percentile rank.
