Registering on the Common Fellowships Portal (CFP) and creating a unique CFP ID allows you to manage and submit applications across various doctoral and post-doctoral research schemes (such as DBT, CSIR, DST, and UGC) through a single unified profile.

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you register and generate your CFP ID.

Prerequisites Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following ready before starting registration:

  • Active Email Address: Must remain active throughout your research tenure.

  • Mobile Number: For OTP verification and SMS alerts.

  • Government Photo ID: Aadhaar Card, Passport, or PAN Card for profile verification.

  • Academic Documents: Certificates and mark sheets (10th/12th, Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. completion/enrollment details).

1.Visit the Official Portal: Ensure you are on the authentic Government of India site.

Navigate to the official portal at fellowships.gov.in. Click on the "Register" or "New Applicant / Student Registration" button on the home page header.

2.Complete Basic Account Registration:Verification via OTP is mandatory.

Fill in your primary details:

  • Full Name: As printed on your official certificates/IDs.

  • Email Address & Mobile Number: Enter active credentials.

  • Password Creation: Create a strong password following the on-screen complexity guidelines.

Click Submit to trigger OTP verification sent to your registered email and mobile number. Enter the OTPs to activate your account.

3.Log In to Your Scholar Dashboard:Access the profile completion portal.

Return to fellowships.gov.in and click "Login". Enter your registered email address and password to open your scholar dashboard.

4.Fill Out Your Comprehensive Scholar Profile:All fields must be accurate to generate the CFP ID.

Complete all required profile sections:

  1. Personal Information: Date of birth, category (General/OBC/SC/ST/PwD), and correspondence/permanent address.

  2. Academic Credentials: Mark/CGPA percentages, passing years, major subjects, and awarding universities for high school, undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. degrees (if applicable).

  3. National Level Qualifying Exams: Qualification details for national tests like NET, GATE, BET, or INSPIRE eligibility.

  4. Publications & Research Experience: List indexed journal publications, patents, or prior fellowship experience (required for SRF and Post-Doc applicants).

5.Upload Required Documents:File size should comply with portal limits (usually PDF/JPEG < 500 KB).

Upload clear scanned copies of:

  • Recent passport-sized photograph and signature.

  • Identity proof (Aadhaar / Passport / Voter ID).

  • Category certificate (if applicable).

  • Final degree certificates or provisional degree mark sheets.

6.Generate and Download Your CFP ID:Your unique identification across all S&T fellowships.

Review your filled profile for accuracy and click "Final Submit". Upon successful submission:

  • A unique Common Fellowship Portal (CFP) ID (e.g., CFP-2026-XXXXX) will be generated on your dashboard.

  • A confirmation email containing your CFP ID will be sent to your registered email address.

  • You can now use this CFP ID to log in, apply directly to active fellowship calls, or track application statuses.

Important Tips

  • Save Your CFP ID: Quote this ID in all official correspondence with fellowship nodal officers or funding departments (such as enquiry-fellowships@dbt.nic.in).

  • Keep Profile Updated: If you gain additional research experience or publish new SCI papers, update your profile before submitting new fellowship applications.
