Author Meet with Deepa Panakkal: An Inspiring Evening of Stories, Learning, and Reflection - 15 January 2026

The Library of St. Francis Institute of Technology recently hosted a special virtual Author Meet featuring Deepa Panakkal, bringing together students, faculty, and book enthusiasts for an enriching and thought-provoking session. Conducted via Google Meet, the event created a vibrant space for conversation, reflection, and inspiration.

Participants from different locations joined the session, united by a shared interest in reading, learning, and exploring meaningful perspectives on life.

Welcoming an Inspiring Voice

The session began with a warm welcome to all participants and an introduction to the evening’s guest speaker. The audience was delighted to be in the presence of Deepa Panakkal, a distinguished educator, author, speaker, and motivator whose work resonates deeply with readers and learners alike.

At St. Francis Institute of Technology, Deepa Panakkal serves as the Head of the Department for First Year Engineering, where she plays a significant role in shaping young minds. Her teaching philosophy extends beyond academics, focusing on developing students holistically by integrating life skills, communication, emotional intelligence, and values into the learning process.

Alongside her academic contributions, she is widely recognized as a TEDx speaker and an influential voice on professional platforms, sharing insights on personal growth, motivation, and human connections.

A Journey Through Words and Experiences

One of the highlights of Deepa Panakkal’s creative work is her book Treasured Verbalization: Experiences and Life Lessons Shared. The book captures reflections drawn from personal experiences and everyday observations, presenting life lessons in a thoughtful and relatable manner.

Through her writing, she encourages readers to pause and reflect on the seemingly ordinary moments that often hold profound meaning. Her stories inspire individuals to recognize growth opportunities within daily experiences and to appreciate the wisdom life quietly offers along the way.

During the session, she shared insights into her journey as an educator and writer — how curiosity, observation, and human interactions often become the seeds for meaningful storytelling.

Inspiring Minds Beyond the Classroom

What makes Deepa Panakkal’s voice truly impactful is her ability to connect with people. Whether in a classroom, on digital platforms, or through her writing, she consistently encourages individuals to explore their inner strengths, understand themselves better, and approach life with empathy and clarity.

Her reflections often combine thoughtful wisdom with warmth and humor, reminding audiences that growth is not only measured by achievements but also by the lessons we gather throughout our journey.

The session encouraged participants to look at life from new perspectives, emphasizing the importance of resilience, compassion, and lifelong learning.

A Memorable and Meaningful Interaction

The Author Meet concluded with an engaging interaction where participants reflected on the ideas shared during the session. The evening served as a reminder of the powerful role that literature, storytelling, and dialogue can play in inspiring change and nurturing thoughtful minds.

Events like this continue to strengthen the culture of reading and intellectual engagement at St. Francis Institute of Technology, creating opportunities for students and faculty to connect with inspiring voices and meaningful ideas.

The session with Deepa Panakkal left participants motivated to reflect more deeply, learn continuously, and embrace life’s experiences with curiosity and purpose. ✨

National Reading Day - 2022 Report

Commemorating National Reading Day: A Report on Library Celebrations
In the vibrant landscape of India, National Reading Day stands as a beacon of literary enthusiasm, celebrated annually on June 19th to honour the legacy of P.N. Panicker, the visionary pioneer of the library movement in Kerala. Libraries across the nation embrace this occasion with a fervour of activities, transforming their spaces into hubs of literary engagement and celebration.
SFIT LIRC celebrated the National Reading Day 2022 with a very novel - "Spin a Wheel" activity. We received a huge response from all the students and staff members.
SFITians took up to accept the "Read India Challenge" and participated in the month-long activity - Spin the Book Wheel. The concept was curated by T.E. ExTC student and library committee member - Mas. Ritik Patel.
This activity was aimed at familiarizing out user community to novels, short stories and a vast collection of leisure reading books available in our library. Students and staff were thrilled to spin the wheel and read the book which the wheel decides for them.
Number of Participants: 70
Take the Pledge: Number of Participants: 11

Following books were borrowed by the participants as part of the celebration:
