  Vaachan Prerana Diwas (Reading Inspiration Day) was celebrated in St. Francis Institute of Technology (Borivali, Mumbai) to commemorate the birth anniversary (15 October) of Late dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam - the Missile Man of India. As part of the celebrations, the Learning and Information Resource Centre (Central Library) initiated a few activities as outlined below: 1) Take Away of Books 2) Sale of withdrawn books 3) Book Exhibition 4) Modification of the overdues 5) Extending Scholar's Card facility to students whose GPA is =/> 8.6. The LIRC witnessed a huge response for the Take Away of books and the Sale of Withdrawn book bank books. More than 150 people visited the library and an odd 100 availed the same. “GOT BOOKS YOU DON’T NEED, DONATE TO OTHERS WHO WISH TO READ!” Rather than giving a financial contribution or donation, SFIT Library, Borivli,  plans to forge a long-term relationship with the people around, through the mutual love for books on the eve of ‘World Book and Copyright Day’, which falls on April 23. In 1995 UNESCO decided that the World Book and Copyright Day would be celebrated on 23 April, as the date is also the anniversary of the death of   William Shakespeare and   Inca Garcilaso de la Vega , as well as that of the birth or death of several other prominent authors. We have always attempted to develop a reading culture among the people and now we are keen to harness the same enthusiasm to the persons who are not as fortunate as we are. Even though I work hard, the teacher expects more of me. I am disappointed when I don’t do as well as others. I am confident about achieving my plans for the future. Through a maze of more than hundred such questions aiming to identify the stress levels and ‘psychological self-constructs’ of students, a new book “Stressed... But Not Out”, based on a doctoral thesis, seeks to zero in on stress and tackle it among school students. Giselle D’Souza, an associate professor at St Teresa’s Institute of Education, surveyed 1,092 Class 10 students over a two-year period for her PhD thesis. These findings, now compiled in a book, contain tools for identifying stress based on a scoring scale alongside suggestions for parents, schools and students.
