📚 Knowledge Connect (28): Two-Week Online Refresher Course on “Smart Information Systems: AI in Action” scheduled from 8th to 20th December 2025

Greetings from the University Library, Central University of Punjab!

The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Central University of Punjab, is pleased to invite applications for the Two-Week Online Refresher Course on “Smart Information Systems: AI in Action”, scheduled from 8th to 20th December 2025 under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme of the University Grants Commission, Ministry of Education, Government of India. This programme is being organized in collaboration with the University Library, Central University of Punjab.

This course aims to enhance the professional competency of library and information science faculty by focusing on Artificial Intelligence integration, digital library tools, and emerging information systems. The programme will contribute toward fulfilling the requirements laid down in the UGC Career Advancement Scheme (CAS).

Who Can Apply:
Library Professionals and  Faculty members  (Permanent, Contractual, or Ad-hoc) working in universities and colleges recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. Teachers from affiliated colleges in existence for at least three years are also eligible.

Important Dates:

  • Course Dates: 8th – 20th December 2025
  • Last Date for Registration: 20th November 2025
  • Confirmation Email: 25th November 2025
  • Mode: Online (Google Meet Platform)

Registration Details:

  1. There is no registration fee for participation.
  2. Register yourself at

  4. On the MMTTP dashboard, apply for the Refresher Course and select Centre Name: Central University of Punjab.
  5. Upload the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your parent institution.

In case you are unable to obtain the NOC immediately, you may submit a self-declaration at the time of registration and forward the NOC before the programme starts. 

You may visit https://mmc.ugc.ac.in to register. After registration, kindly update your profile with your photograph and ID card. Once your profile is updated, go to Programme → Refresher Course → Month: December → Date: 8th, and from the list of events, select Central University of Punjab, then click Apply Now.

As the number of seats is limited, selection will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

Report on Knimbus Training Session: "Effective Use of Subscribed Resources” - 16th May 2025

 

The Learning and Information Resource Centre (LIRC) of St. Francis Institute of  Technology organized a hands-on training session on 16th May 2025 titled “Effective Use  of Subscribed Resources” in collaboration with Knimbus Digital Library Services. The  training was aimed at enhancing awareness and usage of the digital resources subscribed to  by the institute through the Knimbus platform. 

Resource Person: 

The session was conducted by Ms. Kanishka Jindal, Senior Executive from Knimbus. With  a clear and practical approach, she engaged participants through a live demonstration of the  platform's capabilities.

Key Highlights of the Session: 

Introduction to the Knimbus dashboard and user-friendly search features Tips on advanced filtering, keyword optimization, and citation tracking Accessing publisher-specific content such as IEEE, Springer, and McGraw-Hill Exploring personalized features like Saved Searches, Alerts, and Notes Overview of remote access options for off-campus research 

Q&A interaction to address participant-specific queries and technical issues

The training on "Effective Use of Subscribed Resources" successfully met its objectives of  enabling participants to confidently utilize SFIT's digital library through Knimbus. It  reinforced the role of digital platforms in supporting research, teaching, and learning,  aligning with the institute’s commitment to academic excellence.

Heather works on platforms that support collaboration and Web 2.0 technologies, and her interests range from semantic technology and data science to mobile apps.
Wouter Gerritsma, Subject Librarian - Plant Sciences, Wageningen UR (University and Research Centre) Library
Wouter is responsible for research support at the library, including research assessments on the basis of bibliometric analyses for all of the university's research units.

Author Workshop with Keith Lambert

AUTHOR WORKSHOP WITH PUBLISHER KEITH LAMBERT

To better understand the publishing process for scientific journals, SFIT LIRC had hosted an  Author Workshop with the renowned publisher - Keith Lambert on September 11, 2013 between 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
Students of M.E. Part 1 and Part 2 and senior faculty members attended the workshop, making the total count of participants to 56.

Keith Lambert is an Elsevier Publisher for Mechanical Engineering Journals. Prior to joining Elsevier in 2009, he has more than 30 years experience in both book and journal publishing across many scientific disciplines. As part of the company’s continuing programme providing scientific publishing workshops for early career researchers, Keith Lambert has hosted similar events for future authors in the United Kingdom and Germany.
This workshop covered the following topics in depth:
• An introduction to scientific publishing
• The peer review process
• How to write a scientific article
• The impact factor and other quality measure
• Open access
