AICTE to set up 10 cells in tier 2, 3 institutes across India for startups

Pune, June 22 (KNN) The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to set up ten 'Indovation' cells in tier 2 and 3 institutions across the country, chairman of AICTE T G Sitharam said on Wednesday.

Abhay Jere, vice chairman of AICTE and chief innovation officer at the ministry of education said, “These Indovation cells will scout for technologies in tier 2 and 3 institutions of our country and help them scale up the technology, in commercialisation and converting into startups.”

“For the Indovation cell, we already have infrastructure in place and funding has been approved. As for the placement portal, many industries have approached. We will be giving pre-placement interview training to these students so that they can successfully appear for the interviews," Sitharam said.

As per reports, AICTE in collaboration with the ministry of education's innovation cell is organising innovation, design, and entrepreneurship (IDE) boot camps in six locations today.

The boot camp will be inaugurated by minister of education Dharmendra Pradhan in College of Engineering Pune Technological University and will be telecast live across social media platforms. (KNN Bureau)

Machine-Learning Tool Easily Spots ChatGPT’s Writing ChatGPT’s academic papers were caught 99 percent of the time

Since OpenAI launched its ChatGPT chatbot in November 2022, it has been used by people to help them write everything from poems, to work emails, to research papers. Yet, while ChatGPT may masquerade as a human, the inaccuracy of its writing can introduce errors that could be devastating if used for serious tasks like academic writing.

A team of researchers from the University of Kansas has developed a tool to weed out AI-generated academic writing from the stuff penned by people, with over 99 percent accuracy. This work was published on 7 June in the journal Cell Reports Physical Science.

Book Exhibition 2023 - Report

The Learning and Information Resource Centre (Central Library), St. Francis Institute of Technology (Engineering College), in collaboration with AO Enterprises and Pauline Books and Media Centre organized the Physical Book Exhibitions to provide an open platform to institute fraternity to visit, choice, review, recommend and procure the books displayed by the vendors.

The Exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Augustine Kurias, Former Principal, Staff Training College RBI and Member of our Executive Committee. The event was graced by Dr. Bro. Joseph Karimalayil (Superior General and Chairman), Bro. Alphonse Nesamony (Asst. Superior General and Campus Administrator) Bro. Shantilal Kujur (Director), Dr. Sincy George (Principal), Bro. Vijaykumar Pereira (SFIT, Member) and Mr. Albert D’Souza (Chairman, Aldel Education Trust, Entrepreneur & Industrialist – Member).

During the exhibition, the vendors set up stalls with their latest editions of published books including textbooks, reference books, self help and books for children and teens from the leading publishers like Apress, Elsevier, CRC Press, Wiley, Pearson, Packt, etc. to attract visitors. The faculty members and students of SFIT can reviewed many books and recommended them for purchase for strengthening the physical book collection of Central Library and for project purposes for T.E. and B.E. students. The main aim of book exhibitions is not only getting recommendations, but it can also play an important role in developing the reading habit among professionals and bringing the institute community together.
