IIT-B designs florets to remove impurities from industrial effluents

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) have designed a nanocarbon particle that can help clean heavy metal pollutants from industrial effluents.
The nanocarbon particles or florets that look like marigolds, can remove 90% of pollutants including arsenic, chromium, cadmium and mercury from industrial effluents, claim the researchers.
The work by the team led by professor C Subramaniam was published in the ACS Applied Nano Materials journal recently.

Indian Army a valued institution of India, says chief Naravane

The nation is celebrating the 72nd Army Day today in honour of the soldiers who serve the country selflessly and risk their lives to safeguard the borders. An annual parade at the Cariappa Parade Ground in New Delhi will mark the celebrations.
In a first for any woman officer, Captain Tania Shergill, an officer with Army’s Corps of Signals, will lead an all men contingent at the Army Day Parade today, news agency IANS reported.

Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and billionaire, to visit India next week

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos will be visiting India next week and is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and officials, besides industry leaders, according to sources. The top executive will also attend SMBhav – an event focussing on small and medium businesses in India – that is slated for January 15-16 in the capital city. When contacted, Amazon declined to comment.
